on another note....
MegaBloks, as my mother said, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say it...... lol
I'm the same way, Lego only. I might get some of those starcraft megablocks, but they will be isolated from my Legos. :-p

Re: Adult Lego Fans

I have Megablocks and Lego blocks intermingled at the moment, mostly for storage purposes. There are a number of differences, I agree. I'm just more tolerant.

I do have to admit, though, I'm a huge fan of the more articulated Megablocks figures.

Re: Adult Lego Fans

I think the Mega Bloks mention from me comes from the fact that they did a bang up job with the Marvel stuff and I am TOTALLY eating up all the Power Ranger Samurai releases (It's seen as Sentai Shinkenger to me)

I don't want to rang on Lego (They do a bang up job with Star Wars and I have a lot of that), but when I look at my Lego Wolverine, my Megabloks Wolverine and my Minimates Wolverines.......... well....... the winner is clear. (Ditto goes for Captain America)

Re: Adult Lego Fans

^ I just about finished wave 1 of the Megablocks Marvel minifigs, they are pretty nice. And bigger than I expected. Venom is huge, as is Green Goblin (counting his accessories). Also on that note, if anyone has a War Machine from wave 1, let me know, I'd be interested as it's the only one of that wave I still need.

Lego rules, I got a bunch over the years til about the time RID roled out. I think my favourites besides space stuff was a deep sea exploration theme, had minisubs, a whale skeleton set, etc.

Re: Adult Lego Fans

I guess I just be haten the Megabloks. Being a boarder line lego fanboy. Its also partly due to the fact I sell toys partly as a living. Megabloks as a general you almost have to pay people to take.

The one merit I can think of is MB. They are willing to create new pieces that will be only used on say one set ever. Which is very expensive. Were lego will try to muliti purpose a piece before making a unique piece for a set. Ex: USS Enterprise as an early example.

I do have to agree that the minimates Rock. I had a few of the the ST-TOS ones a few years ago. Which you can get so cheap now. Its crazy.

Re: Adult Lego Fans

The important thing to remember is that LEGO is focused on constants.

The integrity and colour of a yellow brick straight from the factory in the 1980s is the same as the integrity and colour of a yellow brick straight from the factory in the 2010s. And that 1980s brick should be just as good 30 years later.

Barring any sun or physical damage, the bricks are the same.

Megablocks, on the other hand, can't even match things up within the same set. And on top of that, they grip each other inconsistently. Some pieces are too flexible, other pieces are too rigid and crack. I question the chemical integrity of the bricks. Some of the really old ones I have seem to be gradually getting flaky, sort of like GPS.

So yeah, LEGO may be more expensive, but you get what you pay for. They're focused on QC. As for Megablocks, I'm not even sure the paint and plastic they use is lead-free.

Yet I still buy them. Because I'm passed the age of eating plastic mini-figures. More or less.

We also have to remember that before Megablocks did higher detailed mini-figures, LEGO did. They just went back because nobody liked "Jack Stone".

Re: Adult Lego Fans

Yeah, its really all about quality for them, and along with just about everything else (even price since they don't need to be cheapos) Lego, they do it damn impressively. Best toy in the world I'd still say, even above Transformers. *hides*

... however, I've got Megablocked mixed into everything, and the 2x4 pieces aren't that bad. Like, the smaller ones are pretty much unusable for strength, but I was always able to work around that, somehow hah.

Re: Adult Lego Fans

Well, they were better than Galidor.

Anyways, I seem to favour construction vehicles, minifigures and Exo-Force as far as LEGO is concerned. And mechs. Still need to pick up that Lex Luthor one.

The construction vehicles are mainly to modify into mech transports.

Anyone ever heard of BRICKWARS?
