I liked TF Prime a lot, but RID is a welcome change of pace from Prime's heavier, more mature atmosphere.

This is how I feel. I like the lighter feel.

From my understanding all animation is CG now. It's now cheaper to do than traditional animation. There was a story a while back detailing how the Simpsons had finally made the transition from traditional animation to CG.

So it's not a matter of cheaping out. It's a stylistic choice. IMHO if this doesn't offer anything to the older age groups, then they have the mature comics to fall back on. The comics are awesome.

Re: The New RID show

And as for the style; I was just looking at my RID15/Prime figures, and stylistically they look similar. Like they belong in the same universe.
So while the style of animation may be slightly different, the design of the characters follow the same patterns.

My only complaint comes from my OCD fannboy-ness in that I dislike pre-established characters, like Bumblebee & Optimus (especially Optimus in this case) having different bodies with no explanation.

Re: The New RID show

It's enjoyable to watch with my kids, in particular my son really likes it, especially Greenlock.

I think Animated was the best since BW and G1 though...

It's on Teletoon. Saturdays at 1:30, I think.

I just picked up deluxe Optimus and Drift the other day. I like them, they're really nice and solid. Optimus is actually pretty heavy for his size, like Grimlock before him. Still wish they were both voyagers though.

Re: The New RID show

Now that they've revealed that Windblade will be on the show, I have somewhere to put her figure since I don't have a "CHUG" shelf.

Cheap?

I don't recall Prime being able to do this:

They had trouble putting more than 6 unique characters up close in one frame.

Re: The New RID show

I think it's a great show for kids. But as an adult who enjoyed Prime so much and the seriousness that evolved especially in the later story line, I can't seem to enjoy this new one. It feels like going from high school into elementary.

We need a cartoon based on the Masterpiece toys with a serious tone.

But again, this new one is cool. Just for a more.... less scrupulous audience.

Okay now seriously they don't bring out enough toys for them to do a MP cartoon maybe a Classics one but MP not a chance with only 1-2 new molds getting announced each year where as Generations has like 30 to 50 new molds like what every 6 months. So the want is there from the fans, just seeing as TF cartoons are just marketing tools used to sell toys an MP cartoon would just not be a good idea. Also I would not want one based on MP as I like the time that Takara puts into making each figure for them to just start pumping them out would make them sacrifice a lot of details.

Also since MP is based on G1 they would just have to re-make G1 and what would you prefer a whole new G1 cartoon with new episodes based on the old G1 episodes ?, or would you want the Old episodes just re-done with updated animation styles ?
