future Masterpiece?

i was wondering if any of you thought Hasbro would release a MP-11 mold of starscream or skywarp? or if takara would make a mold of a new and improved megatron or shockwave?

Re: future Masterpiece?

Speculation regarding this in a nutshell:

Course of Action #1: OF COURSE they would... well, Starscream at least, because he's so prominent and the mold is already there!

Course of Action #2: Not likely, as there has already been a Masterpiece of both these characters... sure, using a different mold, but similar enough to the powers that be at Toys 'r' Us that they don't want to.

Unfortunately, since MP Starscream and Skywarp were Walmart releases, a who lot more of them were produced, apparently, and even though it probably sold well enough, inevitably many went on sale (especially in the case of Skywarp), creating the illusion (or maybe it wasn't an illusion?) of a shelf-warmer.

The fact that TRU had decided on a Masterpiece ACID STORM, of all things, instead of a more prominent character using that mold, seems to point to COA #2, unfortunately...

How many new Takara Masterpieces do you think they will release next year?

Re: future Masterpiece?

The rumor I've heard through a friend was that neither Hasbro or Takara own the rights to Shockwave, specifically his alt mold, so it would be impossible for them to create a masterpiece figure of him to represent his original G1 form. The closest thing we'll ever get will be Quakewave.

Toybox, a company that used to be under the Radioshack umbrella for their toy merchendising in the 80s owns the rights. So one would assume that it extends to Radioshack....... which is now owned by Circuit City........... as The Source......... which makes it more complicated.

Oh and uhhh

While it's too early, I want a 2nd Rodimus MP. This time, just Hot Rod, re-engineered with the new car price point.

Re: future Masterpiece?

I thought there was already a Skywarp and Screamer. We had Skywarp at TRU for months a year or so ago

Actually, Circuit City never bought the US operations... they still are fully owned and operated by Radio Shack Corp. Canadian stores were sold to CC and when they went under, sold to Bell Canada. The chances of The Source having any link to Radio Shack US is about 1 million to 1.

Good luck to HAS with any negotiating with RSC for the Shockwave rights.

Maybe Has/Tak could strike a deal with RSC to carry their merchandise in exchange for Shackwave's rights. I mean Shack has been Shocky once before and Radio Shack/The Source has carried TF toys before when movie 1 and 2 were out but then so has Mac's Milk. Oh, I want to see a Macwave!

I would love to see Skywarp in the new mold just so I can complete the seeker collection.

If you need a `hot rod` that bad...you know who to ask

What we really need is more Decepticons, all we have is the Seekers, Megatron, and most recently, Soundwave. I want Blitzwing specifically, imagine a triple changing MP...drool*
