Thanks for all your comments.

Thats my goal for the blade's color. Hopefully I can get something close to it.

My only suggestion is to make the blades slightly more square-ish. I find the very rounded blades clash with the blockier designs of Classics Prime.

Extra points if you can make it clip on or fit in one way or another in truck mode ala Deluxe Animated Prime (either one), semi-between the legs sticking out the back of the cab.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll see if I can do a second set for the blades. Not sure if I'll be able to store it in truck mode. But it'd be cool if I could.

These won't be mass produced, at the moment, their just custom pieces I'm making for myself and a friend. I have gotten interest from fans on TFW, so I might consider a short run if possible. But these will never be sold at retail. So I think it should be fine.

Its the shape of the Autobot symbol however as there is is no interior design there's not much could be done about it. At least I don't think so...

Alternitively, come up with a unique insignia that fits the transformers theme, but that you can use in other projects as a sort of logo.
Cool idea! The symbol can easily be edited out of the model. I keep the construction of my 3D models simple, so editing can be easy.

Not sure. I'm guessing $15-20 on this? I haven't used them yet....

No bump maps on this model, everything is pure modeled detail. At the moment, the shaft will be part of the base. But I did think about making it separate so it could turn. It all depends on the width of the peg that would be used. If I could create a 5mm peg for the shaft to plug into the base, I'll consider making it turnable.

Re: Classics Prime Battle Axe WIP

Final update for awhile? Finished modeling the axe. It will be four pieces. Two blades, shaft, and base. The shaft will be able to rotate around. The main blade is about 5cm long. Originally it was 8.3cm. I tried uploading it to shapeways, and the big blade alone cost around $37 to be made in their clear material! Hopefully the whole thing is less then $50 total.

Below are the renders showing the main axe and along with my 3D Prime model. Please be aware, my Prime model isn't 100% accurate to the toy. The battle axe's base is shaped to match the actual toy though in terms of fitting.

So let me know your thoughts. I'll probably upload and put my order in later tonight, and then begin the 10 day wait.

That's amazing. Very highly impressed with it. I really like the darker colour for the blade.
I'm looking forward to your designs for Megatron's flail now.

Re: Classics Prime Battle Axe WIP

Thanks again guys. I've started Megatron's flail weapon. Here are the designs and renders. I'm at about 75% done on the 3d model.

I think it would look 10x better, if you were to make the squared portion of the axe that enables you to connect the axe to Optimus Prime's arm red in colour. This way it would look like the axe is coming out of his arm, instead of a blatant add-on.

Re: Classics Prime Battle Axe WIP

Just out of curiosity what program are you using to do the renders?
