Re: Repair Thread
Although not quite repairing, I'm trying to get rid of dried liquid paper and permanent markers on a few G1 figures.
The liquid paper is on a Reflector and the permanent marker is on a Leozack.
I'd appreciate any help

the liquid paper i'm not sure about, but the permanent marker can be removed with 99proof alcohol and a helluva lotta rubbing.once its gone,or mostly gone,go over the areas again with "fine grit" rubbing compound/polish.(i had to do it to a minty white targetmaster quickmix that was tagged with marker all over the mixing drum )

Thanks chans. Looks like it'll be an expensive job to clean up
What will the fine grit polish do exactly? It sounds like the rubbing alcohol will be damaging the plastic? I hope not...
What about diluted model kit paint thinner? Would that work?

the fine grit polish is to help remove the finale bit of permanent marker.once you're done using the alcohol, there will still be a brownish grey haze where the marker was because it actually seeped into the plastic a bit.the polish will remove the last remenants of it.but i've never actually tried modelkit paint thinner.i'm too afraid it would melt the plastic i'm working on,especially on old plastic like those bots pictured

Universe cyclonus has a similar issue with his wings, you can only see one end of the pin, not the other, so you can't knock it out...
If I have any ideas I'll let you know.

Re: Repair Thread
Hi again, here with a question about the triggercon Ruckus (nothing turned up when I searched the thread, so i hope i'm not dragging up an old issue).
I got Ruckus recently, but his gear mechanism is a bit broken, it still turns but won't lock at the start position. This means that in robot mode the guns are stuck at his shoulders, which is fine, but in buggy mode they're stuck pointing at the ground behind him.
I went to try and open him up to take a look, no joy. As near as I can tell the main body should split in two, but seems to be being held together by the head, and possibly the gears, as well as the two screws. Anybody got any advice on how to dismantle ruckus in such a way that I'll be able to put him back together? Thanks in advance
