Weekend pass last year was $50, I believe. So flight, hotel (3-5 nights maybe?), $50-$60 (rough estimate) pass, spending money (the dealer room is like a candy store), food money (average $30-$40 per day if he's frugal), and transportation. That last one is tricky - unless he's familiar with driving on the other side of the road it might be a bit much to rent a car. We have a good taxi system and fair bus system near the hotel, but it's nowhere near the subway.
He'll have a blast if he comes and he should take some extra days to see Toronto too if he's never been.

Hey! Thanks so much for reply... I was thinking bringing him over for about 15-17 days as he has family in Cambridge. Plus I want to go back to Ottawa & Niagara as I LOOOOOOOVVVVEEEEEE Canada. Would emigrate if I could lol! Anyway, he has drove before so thats all good... Thanks so much for the help with budgeting - you're a star! Would $300 get him much in the way of dealers stalls? Hope to hear from you soon!

I live in Kitchener and the tri-cities area is certainly one of the best I've lived in.

If he is looking at newer items, he could get away with getting several there with $300... If he's into vintage G1 items, he would get away with a few (depending on which dealer he goes to)(***points to self***), but he also may find some things that he has not found yet in the UK.

Re: ****** HELP NEEDED PLEASE ******
$300 is more than I spend each time! Unless he's buying higher end G1 or rare stuff, that should get him several nice things from the dealer room.

Re: ****** HELP NEEDED PLEASE ******
Aside from the fact that you would like to visit Canada also, wouldn't a trip to Botcon be a better gift as Botcon is the bigger convention? Being a Westerner, I've never been to a TFCon. How does it compare to Botcon?

This question probably warrants it's own thread but there are distinct differences between the 2 conventions. While TFCon doesn't necessarily have the powerhouse of Hasbro backing it, it does an amazing job at delivering a well run, fan focused convention which provides ample opportunity to meet and get acquainted with other TF fans. Botcon is much more commercialized with a large corporate presence. It's big and at times overwhelming but it has a less personalized feel to it IMO.
