Re: Confirmed - Michael Bay Not Directing Transformers 5
Good. Admittingly, I enjoyed all the movies, but I would love to see a fresh take with a new director. Also, spend $$$ on CGI bots, not giant magnet spaceships. That entire scene is so much fun and is ruined by the damn magnet escape scene. How about we see Dinobots in bot mode fighting something...like on the bridge were they went to guard?!! Coulda had a better scene with dinobots in robot modes kicking ass.
Still, new director, depending on who, could be an interesting take. Wonder if they will follow with Quints too?

Re: Confirmed - Michael Bay Not Directing Transformers 5
Yeah, I'll believe it when I'm watching the opening credits.
Michael Bay is going keep sucking on the tits of the Transformers franchise for as long as he can. What? He's going to go back and make Bad Boys III? Pain & Gain 2: Gain Hard with a Vengeance? I don't think so.
If, and I mean IF, they don't have Michael Bay for the next one, they better reboot the damn franchise because there is NO saving it now. They have butchered every aspect of Transformers so badly, from the characters to the mythos to stories, that it shouldn't even be called Transformers anymore. Hell, they should have had these movies come out around Halloween like every other horror movies because that's what they are. I can't tell you how many times watching Age of Extinction I was shocked and disgusted by what was going on on screen. To paraphrase Bill Watterson: "Oh, Optimus. What have they done to you?" And needless to say, the same goes for Bumblebee and every other Transformer who's character was mutilated by the movies.

Re: Confirmed - Michael Bay Not Directing Transformers 5
If it bothered you that much why did you watch it multiple times?
I gave every movie a try and watched it but the only one I watched multiple times and actually bought a copy for was the first one. After that i didn't car for them either but can differentiate the Michael Bay Transformer Universe from the one that we all know and love.
Where they crappy money grabbing over the top action movies? Hell yes! However they did and will continue to introduce the transformer universe to new generations and the money generated from the toy sales will help go into producing new series and toys that we as collectors appreciate and covet.

But wouldn't it be better to make a fantastic money-grabbing over-the-top action movie?
It's an opinion thing, and people are entertained by different things. Some people watch action movies for fight scenes and explosions. Others are entertained by a good script and story. Truly great action films balance all sides.
To me, AoE and the other Bay TF movies were not nearly as great as they could have been.

HaHa... Probably not... I'll be happy if, at minimum, the Transformers don't speak slow, like a ThunderCat.

Here's the thing, Bay is good at being Micheal Bay.
Now we are going to get a Michael Bay wannabe.

I think you interpreted his phrasing wrong (I thought the same thing at first):

I think U.P. means something more akin to "while watching AOE, there were several moments where I was shocked and disgusted..." and he technically could have watched it only once.
Me personally: I just want a director who actually gives a shit about the franchise, and Bay clearly wasn't that director. I want to be able to enjoy TFs on the big screen, I want a fun experience for the money I pay. Is that too much to ask?
