As much as I hate to say this, don't be surprised if CP brushes this off under the grounds of you not being able to prove that they were the ones who destroyed it & because you didn't pay for insurance. Plus if I recall correctly, it's the sender who absolves all responsibility & needs to be dicked around for claim stuff (rather than the recipient), so who knows.

In either case, if the contents are fine then at least you won't be out the important stuff, and you might be better off just forwarding all of the pics & whatnot to the retailer & politely asking if they can send you an assembled box. If I cared about the packaging, that's probably what I'd do because I wouldn't expect to get anywhere dealing with Canada Post on my own.

Once I received a package from BBTS and the toy (TFA Blackout) was ok but its box was crushed and ripped. Didn't know if the courier company did it or was it like that from the BBTS warehouse. I emailed to BBTS and told them my box isn't mint and is crushed. They said they can either ship me a new one (and I had to ship back the crushed one to them), or they can offer me a store credit. I ended up taking the store credit since the box wasn't that important to me after I thought about it. So I got something like 20% or 25% off that toy. Maybe you can try something similar?

Weird, I got a crushed (with a huge hole on the side) box today too from Canada Post. They must hate Transformers fan.

I got a parcel once that was torn right open, with a TINY piece of tape saying "PARCEL DAMAGED, SORRY BRO!" (might as well have said that..). Not only that, but the tiny shit piece of tape was broken, and the parcel was bleeding packing peanuts from here to... I dunno where.

Long story short: Fuck Canada Post.

Good luck with Canada Post. I would say that they are responsible for the damage, but from what I have heard there is little to no chance of getting them to deal with it.
