Damn straight it was a cowardly attack. But he used is brains to get himself into that position to be the ultimate bad ass coward. Unlike his G1 counterpart, he would have killed Starscream long before Starscream had the chance to throw him out like trash.

2) BW Megatron risked destroying history by trying to kill Optimus Prime for the sake of the Predacons. I mean, if Optimus Prime dies, then the matrix dies with it. If the matrix dies with it, then what will stop Unicron from attacing in 2005? That is a very risky move that BW Megatron did that could get himself erased out of existence.

If Optimus Prime dies, the matrix doesn't die. It can exist outside of a transformer. See the '86 movie. Prime dies, matrix still exists, and gets passed on. Matrix gets stolen and hung around galvatron's neck, but it isn't destroyed. The matrix will still exist and can be used to destroy Unicron. So all is well in those terms. And as for it being a risky move, yeah. He has the engeron cubes to do something crazy like that. He'll risk his own existance for the good of his people. Now that's an awesome leader.

BW Megs belongs on a poll all his own (at least the D. Kaye English version anyways). As a character, he even managed to catch the ire of the Tripredacus Council to such a degree that they would send another bot to terminate him.

They all have faults, it's part of how to write a kids show.
I honestly think that if BW was a horror movie of some sort, the ending would be the Predicons rise to victory with maximals heads on spikes. But writing has its limits so thus Megatron, due to writers and kids shows, had to make those imperfect mistakes. The reality though, IF it was based on reality. BW Megatron would have won, and in Beast Machines he did win...for awhile anyway.
