Nobody mocks me with the intent to upset me though. As for weird looks, I get those all the time. And from time to time I get people looking at me weird, and at those times I just say "we all have our own hobbies, and this is just mine."

All in all, the more comfortable YOU are with your hobby, the more comfortable the people around you will be. If you are defensive about it, you will get people making fun of you more. If you intentionally go out of your way to hide it, people will intentionally go out of their way to find it. And conversely, if you are obsessive about it, you'll get weird looks and hurtful comments from family and friends, and those around you (not always, but it does happen)

Me, I am very comfortable with my hobby. I only ever talk about it when somebody brings it up, or when I have BIG news (IE, movie or TV series anounced or something).

I have friends who love TF's, and I can nerd it up with them as much as I can on here with you guys. And I have friends who enjoy hearing me nerd out.

It's all about who you are, and being comfortable with your hobbies.
speaking of nerding it up, anyone waiting for voyager long haul? i know i am!

Re: Transformers ONLY for kids?

I personally think it's for all ages. My sister may not collect the toys but she does enjoy watching the shows. My mother seems to think otherwise on both.

If it's a movie? Great, she loves the movies and will be more than willing to watch any of them. Show or toys? She could care less and thinks it's a complete waste of time and money. Hell, she still thinks my love for video games is a waste but apparently this tops it.

Re: Transformers ONLY for kids?

I am a reformed "mocker".My Wife was collecting when I met her and at first I gave her a hard time. In the year and so many months we have been married,I have started collecting and it is downhill from there.

We dont get much ridicule from many people, except for a close friend who calls us "Trannies".If someone in a store were to give me a weird look I probably would not notice. We are there for our enjoyment.I have found that people who collect anything else do understand the hobby better though.

Cheers to everyone else who posted and enjoys our hobby...

Re: Transformers ONLY for kids?

My coworkers would probably give me a weird look if they saw me bring one of the TF toys from my store to the front cash.

Re: Transformers ONLY for kids?

Either I'm not very self conscious about it or maybe I've just never noticed, but I can't remember when I've got strange looks for being in the toy department browsing through Transformers figures.

Maybe its the fact that I look old enough to potentially have a kid, but even when I was like 20 I don't remember getting strange looks.

I've even occasionally offered unsolicited advice to other adults browsing through trying to figure out "what that boy wants" or helping their kid decide on one figure or another.

Normally that sort of stuff doesn't really matter much, but in the last case I stopped a mother from picking up the the 25th anniversary G1 Prime which her 5 year old was considering and suggested Universe Onslaught for half the price. He didn't like that the box was smaller, but he liked the fact that it was a "tank".

First of all, I can't make that promise! and secondly from the pics I've seen of the MIB one he seems to be a little taller than the Fallen but not by much.
