problems with fed ex and customs

anyone ever have this problem. i got a package (mib black big convoy) from the usa and it was shipped through fedex. i recieved it 3-4 weeks ago. so in the mail today to my shock, i get this customs receipt for 75 dollars (because the idiot put the value at 200 us but was marked as a gift). i already paid 130 usd shipped for the item. paying the customs would make it the toy way overpirced and not worth buying at all. should i pay it. they usually hold your product until you pay the customs fees. if i have the product why should i pay this ridiculous fee. never had problems through usps at all. fedex is a joke. any suggestions please. thanks for reading.

Sounds like the seller priced it high to play it safe should there be a lost shippment claim but wasn't smart enough to realize that eventhough it's marked as a gift, at that dollar value it get's some attention. You should be able to protest with Fed Ex as long as you have some solid documentation of what you actually paid for the item. Sorry that happened to you, I know how much of a pain in the ass it can be. Fed Ex is great at sending out invoice after deliveries are done.

Those pricks'll send it to the collections agency and then you get to enjoy all of the head aches and bs of cleaning up the mess so your credit doesn't get screwed. I'd recommend you deal with it, mortgages can get withheld over piddly crap like that.

The same thing when you dont pay any other bill.

Unfortunately there is nothing you can do about this. FedEx uses their own customs brokers which is why the bill is so high. Wile Canada Post charges a $5 handling fee for customs, FedEx will charge typically a $25-40 handling fee depending on the value of the package.

Just curious, you bought this convoy from King Konvoy, right? Was it the MISB or just MIB one?

This is why you should stick to USPS for shipping stuff, they don't have outrageous courier charges that can be up to almost a third of the declared value of the package.

Although one would probably want to avoid losing the package, I usually take that chance because mail is rarely lost in the mail, unless it's something in an envelope like cash or sports tickets (happened to my friend).

Re: problems with fed ex and customs

I'm trying to get my money back from Fedex right now.

I stayed in a Hotel in Indianapolis, and left something there. They told me it would be shipped via the cheapest option. So, here I expected USPS Airmail or whatever.
Nope, they used Fedex ultra fast super freaking priority kick your credit card in the ass service!
$111.75 was what showed up on my card. They won't asnwer my e-mail, and the hotel is laying the blame game on fedex. #$%^&*

Couriers Companies = Crap

Make sure you never get items shipped by any courier companies, them and their imaginary fees.
