It's possible, but you run the risk of weakening your shelf.

careful with this stuff as some of it will eat into the paint and plastic, something in the chemical makeup of it, not sure which brands are bad/good

1) I don't crowed my shelves any more period.
2)custom shelves that are not any more than my biggest TF in depth(base) and hight is gauged for the figures (botmode).
3) for pieces like MP prime and the smaller pieces I picked up some scale sized doll stands (metal &/or plastic ones) paint them to blend in,.. I find that the large base and the single hoop/clasp holds the figure,does not mar/mark the plastic and allows for a limited pose with complete safety from falling.
4) lastly I place a throw carpet in front at the base of the open shelves incase of falling tfs,.. the precious pieces go behind glass where they cannot make the trip to the floor at all.
