KO Dinobots / Shockwave / Reflector

I apologize for the odd formatting, I made my notes
in a text file first since I knew it would be long. And
just pasted it in.

There a few more things I was going to mention but
they seem to have slipped my mind right now..

------------------------------------------------
Today I received my KO Dinobots, Shockwave and Reflector.
Shockwave and the Dinobots all came with authentic looking
boxes, complete with tech spec, decoder and instruction
manuals. Reflector has his tech spec printed in his manual and
also has his decoder.

Reflector just the plain white mailer box it would seem. Shockwave
and Reflector both had old school styrofoam inserts. Shockwave was
a real chore to get out of his foam, it would seem his small
switch on the back end just didn't want to let go.

Everyone came with stickers. They seem to be printed on a thin
foil type paper. Made it a little difficult to apply. If you
don't get them just right before they stick, there is little
second chance at it. Even with tweezers I managed to put a handful
on slightly crooked and will have to leave them that way unless
I get new ones down the road. And some seem to be have been printed
off center or maybe miscut. I had to use scissors to cut snarls
autobot symbol in half for his dino mode.

And they all came with rub symbols, except for Shockwave. If you hold
them up to the light, you can see the Autobot or Decepticon in them. But
I haven't tested whether they actually work.

Dinobots

They all seem to have their die cast parts, some stickers
applied and some need to put on manually. few paint knicks on
the die cast parts. Little bit of flash here and there. And some
joints were very tight, and a few loose.

Grimlock

I had him as a kid, and I didn't remember his robot head being so
far back when transformed. He was missing one set of stickers. He
had two sticker sheets, and they were both the same. At least two
stickers missing..

His robot hands were loose, but not really an issue since in Dino
mode he stands on them anyway. Getting his tail to split to transform
was a little difficult.

His sword seems to be just as rubbery as I remember it to be. The
chrome on his missiles seem to be obviously lower quality.

Swoop

I was slightly terrified to transform him, seeing as I had read
about how fragile his wings are supposed to be. But, he transformed
without any issues. His wing tips did some aweful squeaking, but they
folded back ok. And I checked the joints around the pin, and they
didn't seem to break or crack any. I got all his stickers applied.

His missile launcher pegged into his right wing with some effort. But
not on his left wing. Won't stay in the hole. So, I put that one in
his hand and his sword in the other.

His sword and missiles seem to be nice and rubbery. Not fragile.
Stands no problem on his own.

Snarl

This one is heavy, had no problem separating his Dino head for
transformation. But his tail again, was very tight. And I had some
trouble with it, trying not to break or scrape anything. Stands
good on his own. His gold chrome is shiny enough, but could probably
use a cleaning. The spikes on his tail are rounded, was kind of odd.
His WST counterpart has the sharp spikes though.

The translucent plastic pieces of Snarl in Dino mode, don't seem to be
as dark as some of the pictures I've seen around the net.

Sludge

Pretty much the same, but the chrome plastic on his dino chest that folds
back into 'wings' is a little fragile. Was very tightly snapped
together. And the little clip on one side broke off when separating
=( Maybe the original had similiar issues.
Chrome seems to have a dull shine to it, like it could use a
cleaning. And his gun is a little weak on detail, looks like a
KO gun I guess you could say.

Slag

His robot hands are loose, just drop out of his dino feet. The peg
in his hands is a little large. His gun stays on, but moves freely.
Pulling his wings back for robot mode needs some care, same as I
remember from the one I had as a kid. And the G2 one I just got
for Xmas.

Shockwave

I was surprised at how big he is. Tested his electronics and they
work great. Wish I hadn't of put the battery cover on though.. With
the battery in place, the compartment was tight. And I had a lot of
trouble getting it open again, and snapped off the clip that holds
the cover in place =( was definitely weaker plastic a lot like I
found some parts of the new Predaking 2010 to be. You can tell just
by feeling it, that it just doesn't seem to have any flex to it. I
wouldn't call it worse than what seems to be in use with some of the
current Hasbro stuff at least.

His left leg when extended doesn't snap into place, therefore he
will not stand on his own. I had to slip some thin cardboard between
his metal thigh and the top of his boot, to add some tension so he
stand up on his own.

Came with a sticker sheet full of decepticon symbols. Manual doesn't
seem to indicate what to do with them. I put the one on his chest, but
I have seen several pictures with different placements for them.

Rubber hose is nice, guess we shall see how long it lasts.

He has ratcheting joints, and a gold eye as well.

His metal toes, one flipped out like normal. And the second one was so
tight, I didn't know if it would come out at all.

Reflector

Smaller than I expected, has die cast parts. No indication on where
his stickers go. Tried to find some pics online. And I got about half
of them applied. Pretty simple transformation, was a little worried about
putting him into camera mode, with the two posts that hold the other
two bots on. But they seem to snap together ok. Suffers a bit from a
bad looking backside, but looks pretty cool from the front. With the
flash and lens attached.

After seeing this one, the new PE one doesn't look like it will be any
smaller after all. But pictures are hard to judge.

Over all I'm pretty satisfied with the quality, and look of them all.
And the prices are certainly right compared to what I see them going
for on Ebay. If your after looks for display purposes.

I'm just a little disappointed that about the three issues I have:

A) Shockwaves leg not locking into place
B) Shockwaves Easily snapped battery cover clip
C) Easily snapped clip on Sludges 'Dino Wings'

Took about 3 weeks to get here from T800Pro on iOffer. And make sure you
throw an offer in, or ask for a quote. He knocked a chunk off when I asked
for a quote on them. I didn't haggle any further down, since he dropped
a lot just when asking for the quote.

I requested he check for anything missing up front, and he said he would.
I don't blame him for Grimlock seeming to be missing two stickers. There
was two sheets in his bag. And T800 may not know what belongs with each
toy he sells. Just that they should have a sticker sheet.

Re: KO Dinobots / Shockwave / Reflector

I picked up the KO Shockwave from KOToys as a place holder in my collection and I have to tell you that mine is exactly the same as yours word for word! I'm still glad I got it but as long as you remember what's what when transforming everything is good!

Great review by the way!

Re: KO Dinobots / Shockwave / Reflector

Thanks, I wish I would have had some hands on experience with Shockwave and Sludge before. I would have been more aware of what to be more mindful of.

I recalled reading about Swoops wings, so I was real careful with them. And they were ok.

I'm checking Reprolabels site now for the sticker placements for Reflector and Shockwave, they have some better maps. Online pictures seem to vary some.

@Hobbyist Prime it's interesting to know that your KO Shockwave has the same issues.. When I think about it, the leg lock annoys me more than the battery cover. In robot mode, his 'tailbone' folded up holds it on. But I'm concerned that I'm going to come downstairs some morning and find him toppled over pushing others off the shelf. So, I've leaned him at the back of his shelf to give room for things to just fall down on the shelf. And hopefully not go over the edge.
