Re: Friday August 8, 1986

Well, I would have been 4 at the time. I don't think I saw it in theatres, but this raises many good questions about how young I was when I got into transformers...hmm...

Anyways, I saw it on VHS years later.

Re: Friday August 8, 1986

I was living in Winnipeg at the time and saw it on the first weekend with a couple of friends at the old Polo Park movie theater. I remember riding the bus home with them talking about how cool it was that the Autobots finally had a triple changer, Springer, where was Snarl and could the Junkions revive Optimus Prime as they had done for Ultra Magnus. Oh....and that Arcee was HOT!!!

Re: Friday August 8, 1986

I remember going with my cousin to see it on the Saturday @ Westwood theatres in Etobicoke. I vividly remember some younger kids weeping at Primes demise, Spike saying "Oh Shit" and some Adult's having a good laugh at some of the visuals and dialog.

Oh and it was quite disturbing to see all the original cast being killed-off in the first 10 minutes of the movie

My mom wouldn't let me see it. Everyone else told me what happened.

Re: Friday August 8, 1986

Saw it the day it opened, I was 11 years old. At the Glenway theater in Newmarket. The theater is no longer there now . I still cried when Prime died...I thought he would come back at the end of the movie. Like come on, they can't kill Prime. It was and eye opener and I was shocked twice, once when Prime died and never came back and to top it off Spike said "Oh Shit!"

So to continue the tradition I went to the opening night of the new movie and will be for the next!

Re: Friday August 8, 1986

Let's see, 12 years and one week old when it came out...
And had to wait another 21 years to finally see it! Yep, just last year my brother borrowed the DVD from a friend and we finally watched it... a couple of times.
Optimus' death was still traumatic.

Re: Friday August 8, 1986

i saw this for the first time on VHS about 20 years ago. Probably watched it at least 75-100 times. I still get misty eyed when prime dies.

I was 7. Nobody at school believed me when I told them that everybody dies and Spike says "shit".
