Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

Got a question and wonder has this ever happened to any of you guys. I got a package from dhl and they didn't collect the customs fees, but there was an invoice to collect. I was on vacation and just picked up the package from my wife's work place. I always thought that they don't release packages until payment is received? hoping I don't have to pay, but I know in the long run I may have to.

What store did you get this shipped from? If it was amazon.com/jp or any of the international versions of it, they have the collections included.

It was from a japanese website, but definitely not amazon. i was suppose to choose SAL, but accidentally choose DHL worldwide express. I avoid DHL like the plague, knowing all the extra administrative charges. The shipping charges were definitely less than the customs fees, I'm hoping it was really covered by the shipper.

Hmm that's weird, but I do know that DHL does have a dept collection department so they will probably contact you if you are required to pay. Any chance your wife's work paid for it?

I've only ever had one package delivered by DHL (I too clicked it by accident) and I had to pay the charges at my door.

Well if you owed money DHL will let you know. They sent me a text just today that I owed 28 dollars in duty fees. Paid it off online. And this was prior to the delivery, too bad I was busy sleeping to answer though

*shakes angry fist at CBSA* They are always to blame. They should just say "F it! We'll slap a duty charge on everything!" That's what they secretly want to do, but haven't yet. Am I bitter every time I get dinged on a parcel? Mayyyyybe
