Re: MJ Dead?

I still think they should play a soundbite of "Why You Wanna Trip on Me?" when someone takes a tripping penalty in a hockey game.

RIP Michael

Re: MJ Dead?

Ok, this isn't really my story to tell (but its just too awesome not to share), but it is awesome and MJ related.

A previous co-worker of mine was hanging out with his friends one Friday night when they ran out of beer. They were a bit gone, but they wrote down an ingenious plan to get free beers. They wrote parts of it down because they knew they wouldn't remember.

The next day, my co-worker and his friend went through the idea again, and deemed it do-able and fun. It took the whole group an entire week's worth of practice, eating up all of their free time, but finally they had it down to a system.

That Friday night, they unleashed their plan.

They each entered a pre-determined bar with a dance floor separately and were off doing their own thing, going easy on the drinks so they could execute their plan. The designated one picked a song on the jukebox and then went about his business while the song moved in queue.

When it started playing, each member of the group immediately stopped whatever they were doing (drinking, talking, whatever), and started silently wandering and shuffling around onto the dance floor moving into position, not a word was spoken.

When the song's intro was finished, they all started dancing in perfect unison, just like on the video. And they performed flawlessly for the entire song.

Afterwards, they met up at a large table. The bartender was impressed and gave them free pitchers for the rest of the night. On top of that they got so many phone numbers and everybody wanted to meet and talk with them. Their plan worked, and they were reaping the benefits.

And that song was Thriller, by Michael Jackson.

Hey Shepp, are these your buddies?

MJ apexed for me as an artist with "Thriller", but "Off The Wall" was my favourite. Regardless, I rocked the red leather 'MJ' jacket with zippers proudly in the 80's...

It was genuinely frakked up how he altered his physical self to look more like Diana Ross, and he definitely had childhood issues that affected his adulthood. But MJ's impact on pop culture and music is unmistakeable.

Via Con Dios, King of Pop...and Via Con Dios, Farrah Fawcett.

It's sad that we've lost such an influential musical artist, but at least he leaves behind an amazing legacy to remember him by.
