As an aside, what is going on with all the physical locations? Victoria Park and Danforth has closed permanently. Morningside has now closed permanently. The two locations that were at Cedarbrae are gone. that leaves Warden and Eglinton, Girard Square, in Scarborough town centre for this entire side of Toronto. That seems like a really really bad indicator.

Well it isn't a good sign per se, but it also isn't unusual for companies to consolidate to cut costs, save money, and improve the bottom line for shareholders.
Shame about Victoria Park/Danforth. That was my local GS before moving up to Ottawa. However the same thing happened up here last year. A couple of location closed down last year (Billings Bridge being the big one for me) without any fanfare.
GS is in a tough spot due to their business model. They are getting squeezed on games due to the continued move to online gaming and streaming/downloading games rather than hard copies. Then on the collectibles side they have to deal with the seemingly ever increasing prices.
I don't think they are going anywhere anytime soon. Also remember Amazon has even said they plan on cutting up to 18,000 employees. If they are looking to cut costs I would say it isn't all that noteworthy that GS is doing the same.
