Would this trade be worth it? Takara MP-1 Optimus Prime

So a recent Kijiji ad has a local guy selling a Takara MP-1 Optimus Prime. His list price is $170 and said he is open to trades. So because of that I asked him what kind of stuff he'd be interested in trading for and he said

I would trade for masterpiece figures I don't have, especially mp-10 OP, Acid Storm, or Soundwave, but any post-MP10 I don't have I'll probably do.

Most modern figures, like Generations, United, RTS, etc. I also collect."

Today he emailed me back asking if I still wanted it and seemed motivated to sell it quickly cause it "doesn't fit his collection" any more.

I'm trying to think of what I can realistically trade from the halved collection I have at school that would really stack up to this. Do you think it'd be worth it to empty a shelf in exchange for this piece? Truthfully I'd probably much rather MP-10.

It depends upon your collection. If you are (getting) into the recent MPs, then you'll probably prefer just to get yourself MP-10 so that all is right (or better) for scale. Otherwise, you might later find yourself in the same position as the seller -- that MP-1 doesn't "fit" into your collection.

If you'd rather have MP-10, and you have the more modern MP figures - I would personally not bother with MP-01. For his day and age, it was a great figure, but he would be huge and grossly out of scale with the new figures.

You'd be best off getting a Takara MP-10. Just my 2c... it's your money and your collection.

Personally, I think that MP Acid Storm in exchange for MP-01 is a good trade for you if you don't care about scale. MP-01 is still an excellent, high quality figure. I owned Acid Storm briefly and sold it. I didn't care much about him as a character and the figure felt cheap to me.

Yeah, if I had an Acid Storm already I'd consider that, but I only have Grimlock currently. Really, maybe I just won't take him up on this. I was trying to figure out how this would go and if I traded G1 Metroplex, Sentinel Prime Leader, BW Optimus Primal, some deluxes and my new Target giftcard maybe that'd fly, but... would that be worth it? When I could try and swing those for a YOTH Prime I'd probably like more.

2nd another option instead of MP1 could be the 25th anv hasbro edition release., they go about 75-100 loose no trail with this one

The Takara MP-1/MP-4 mold is a milestone, but worth it only if you have MP-5 (which is a problematic mold and barely worth buying). They're magnificent together, IMO. But more bang for your buck with MP-10 and beyond.

Not that Yoth Prime straight up didn't tempt me.

MP-1 Optimus Prime probably just worth MP Acid Storm anyway. I bought one from follow member for just $80 last year.

As noted below it depends what you are after. I sold my MP04 because MP10 is a better fit with my collection. Kept the Hasbro 25th Anniversary one though because the toy is iconic and as a stand alone, probably the best toy Takara has ever designed. If there was a fire and I could only grab 1 bot, it would be 25th Anniversary Prime (of course I would pine the rest of my days for my lost collection).
