Is the Xbox360 Elite still available?

Or am I stuck with the pro version?

I am looking to buy one this week, Elite if possible.

If I were you I will wait until they roll out the 65nm CPU before getting one. The new processor will generate less heat so in theory the one with it will be a bit more reliable. The existing ones (including the Elite which is based on the old platform) have a pretty high probability to get the 3 rings of death. I have to replaced mine once and I don't know how long the new one will last.

Yeah. I am a bit late. Shortly after making this topic I bought a premium version.

However.... What do I need the Elite for? Of the 2 TV's I use, only one has HDMI.

The harddrive space thing may hit me eventually, but meh, it hasn't yet. I'm happy with my purchase

By buying an Elite you may get the new Falcon motherboard/chipset with the new 65 nm processors. Rumors say anything with the Lot # 0728 and onwards (i.e. production date in and after July... lift off the little flap on the box and look inside to check the production date) will have the new motherboard, chipset and processors. Or, at the very least, the new production of Elite will have the new heat sink on the GPU which should make it more reliable. This is not so for the core and the premium (retailers have too many of them and they won't get the revised hardwares not until they have cleared their stock).


I got an Elite last night @ Shawnessey FS but mine has a production date in June (from Lot # 0724). Back to FS it will...

Oh, I read it somewhere that download-able contents like TV eps and movies will be available in Oct. in Canada. You may need a bigger HD after all if you planned to use that service.
