Sir Anthony Hopkins Praise Transformers Movies

It’s not everyday Michael Bay gets a praise. Especially considering the recent controversy in England. But when you get a praise from one of the top actors in the Industry, it usually means a lot. Sir Anthony Hopkins praised director Michael Bay and his Transformers Live Action Movies while working on the London set of Transformers: The Last Knight. “Working with Michael Bay is quite an experience. He’s got the whole film up there (points to the head)… He’s in command of the whole ship… There is no political correctness. They don’t take time. They just ‘Lets do it’. » Continue Reading.

Clearly Anthony Hopkins is not a Transformers fan. He's a fan of getting paid.

Sir Anthony Hopkins obviously did the classical Shakespearean spin. Say something that seemingly sounds like a "praise" but meant something completely different. What he actually meant to say is Michael Bay film has practically zero script and plot. He's "got the whole film up there in his head...Yeah he just does it. Shoot first, edit later. "Makes life for me , any way, easy. He said 'stand there' and I stand there.." Well Sir Anthony is 78 year old. He wouldn't want to waste his time reading some script that doesn't make any sense, if there's one at all. Easy.

Why does he keep mentioning Steven Spielberg and Oliver Stone? And did he say director like Steven Spielberg and Oliver Stone cannot balance Michael Bay? Well he obviously meant the guy is out of control.

"There is no political correctness. They don’t take time. They just ‘Lets do it'"...Well...No political correctness. I guess that means more sexist and racist jokes then?

Maybe he happens to like them. I don't understand why people are looking for reasons to suggest he doesn't mean exactly what he said.

Because they hate the films therefore everyone MUST hate the films. It's an idiotic way to look at it.

Re: Sir Anthony Hopkins Praise Transformers Movies

Say what you like about Michael Bay and whether you like his movies or not. But to suggest he's going into these blockbuster projects with no script and no vision is to ignore the massive amount of pre- and post-production that's required to pull it off. Every shot, every angle, every practical effect, is done with a concrete idea of what the finished sequence will eventually look like once the CGI has been added in. This is Bay's fifth go-around on this franchise -- wouldn't you expect him to be confident about exactly where he wants his actors to stand?
