Re: Transformers Animated (TFA)

What an interesting read. I had the same reaction. The toys showed pride and the show ended way too soon. The cons seemed more threatening than in any other series.

Derp, tried to insert an image of an Animated Longarm figure. I found the balance between cartoon accuracy, toy design and brilliant engineering made this line outstanding and a little underrated IMHO.

Oh fuck yes. Longarm is outstanding. Sure, thevehicle modes are a bit derpy but maaaan. The robot to robot conversion is phenomenal. The height difference alone. I have the gray and purple versions so I can have both robot modes on the shelf.

I'll also say that while safeguard is a bit goony, how solidly the two robots combine together to the big one was awesome. Just the new ideas and strong execution all over.

Plus activators were way too much fun.

Let's try this again. Some examples of the thought that went into the toyline.

Re: Transformers Animated (TFA)

While Animated was awesome, there were big QC issues with many of the figures. I remember that I had to return not two, but three Deluxe Bumblebee figures that had shattered parts MOSC.

The change in plastic to get that cell-shaded look is probably what did it.

Still on the lookout for a few Animated figures. Shame the line was cut before a fourth season. That triple changer Megatron concept art looked awesome.

But I think Hasbro was leaning towards a series that was somewhat a little movie Movieverse styled with Prime. Much of that looked like a sort of blend between Movieverse and Animated. And then the next step with RiD2015 looks like a blend between Prime and Animated. Eventually it might come full circle.

On a side note, did anyone else notice that Swindle (minus the head) looks very Guiltaur-ish with just a repaint?
