Re: Henkei Deluxes Prices difference @ silver Snail.
both astrotain
and hot rod were just reissued
last month,
which means they are more available,
the reissue assortment was much lower,
than the original release.
maybe it was a smaller shipment,
meaning a higher shipping percentage.
really i dunno why the price is higher,
and if it is because of thier popularity
or rarity then that is thier perogative.

Re: Henkei Deluxes Prices difference @ silver Snail.
I believe Takara sells the Henkei cases in individual characters, unlike Hasbro, which mixes the quantity of each deluxe case. I"m quite sure, since I saw a seller selling a case of Rodimus's only.
But yeah, retailers are free to charge what they see in demand. Why do you think clothing stores never/rarely put popular styles of clothing items on sale, while the crap styles go on sale and clearance super fast?
Would you prefer a nice pair of indigo dark wash jeans or a pair with that has that dumb-ass "worn" look with holes with it like swiss cheese? Honestly, nobody wants the douche bag style of jeans.

Re: Henkei Deluxes Prices difference @ silver Snail.
i when i meant assortment,
i did not mean in an individual case.
just that if the assortment is larger,
a retailers shipment would have more cases in it.
but when dealing with an assortment,
some figures definitely sell faster than others,
some do not sell at all.
but a retailer pays the same price for each.
so the cost of an item not selling,
has to be offset somewhere.

Re: Henkei Deluxes Prices difference @ silver Snail.
It also depends on HOW they're shipped.
For instance, the Henkei figs I got through the nearby store ended up a bit cheaper than I thought since they came via the slow boat (took 6 weeks or so I think).

It could be worse...Henkei BB was $50 at the Comic Shoppe on Merivale. Ouch!

Honestly, that Hot Rod toy is so cool, I'd pay $35 (I got mine for $25 though from Automaton).

Re: Henkei Deluxes Prices difference @ silver Snail.
I dunno what the big deal is. If I was in Toronto, I could buy the toy for 34.99 plus tax right NOW, so about 39 bucks. Or I could order it from Automoton, pay 24.99 plus shipping and taxes, so about 37 bucks and have it in four days. I've bought from Automaton is they're pretty good. Really though what is the big deal here? Actually come to think of it, I would rather give the extra money to Silver Snail than to Canada Post.

Re: Henkei Deluxes Prices difference @ silver Snail.
Yeah, I think it's a popularity thing. But $24.99 is pretty cheap (esp. for silver snail) so rather than just looking at it as jacking the prices on the popular ones, one might also see it as them lowering prices on the less popular ones they can't move off the shelves.

Re: Henkei Deluxes Prices difference @ silver Snail.
Well it has many different reasons.
Yes, he is correct when saying that distributors were charging more for figures come Rodimus and A-train.
Availability also plays a part. It was hard to get a decent shipment of those two figures. When the Snail orders, say 12 of each figure. That's the maximum that they want. Sometime, for example Astrotrain, they only received two. Rodimus they didn't even get the first time around.
Why, if I may ask, is the Snail on your "boycott" list.
They are the ones I deal with 99% of the time because they've treated me so well in the past.
