Playtime is Over ? Toys R Us USA Preparing for Complete Shutdown


The woes of Toys R Us continue. Last week, Toys R Us UK entered administration, and we are now sad to report that the USA branch is on the brink of going into liquidation. Bloomberg reports that Toys R Us Inc is making preparations to liquidate the entire USA operation, after attempts to find buyers or reach a deal with lenders to manage the chain’s debts. Bloomberg’s sources suggest that the situation has deteriorated over the last few days, making liquidation increasingly likely. If Toysrus goes in Canada, that only leaves us with Walmart. How does that make everyone feel?

It's sad to see TRU goes... I have nowhere to turn to, Walmart has very lousy toy's department seriously...

Online or the convention which i do now and have done for last 10 years as any toysrus was atleast an hour away and rarely had any fresh stock or carried the complete line as they used to do ....so I wont be missing them ..one thing about this is the small vendors may now get a break and if theres money to be made someone will fill the gap with a new chain

My closest TRU is over 90 mins away and rarely seemed to have anything by the time I ever got there. I've had better luck at Walmarts and online since I started collecting over the last 10 years. So I guess it won't really have any impact for me.

But it is unfortunate to see them go, if that's what happens to the Canadian branch.
