Quick review: BH Ultimate Optimus Prime

PROS

-big, imposing
-interesting leg transformation
-fun gimmicks that works well in both modes
-cool looking weapons
-clicky joints where it matters (hips, knees, shoulders)

CONS

-hollow (including the clip-on wheels)
-lighter than expected for the size
-weapons feel a bit cheap (softer plastic)
-could have used more paint apps (on the weapons and the ring, the molded dragon heads are pretty cool)
-could have used a deeper shade of red, this one's just too light (orange-ish/pink-ish)
-somewhat lazy transformation similar to the Voyager version (why not at least hide the fists in the forearms?)
-cab is a bit gappy
-articulation could have been a bit better (wrists/ankles)
-could have had sounds/voice clips at that size/price
-could have used 2 swords to better define the "trailer" part of the truck mode (the shield side looks a bit silly)

Re: Quick review: BH Ultimate Optimus Prime

It certainly has a lot of flaws, but it really is fun. The missiles are just poorly designed though. Apart from the 2 green flame accessories, the other 3 are just weird.
I'm pleasantly surprised at how well I can pose this guy given how massive this is.
Great pics. Vehicle mode does improve a bit with the lever flipped down.

They're devices to capture dragons by the neck! Just like Wheeljack's collar thing. At least that's what I'm assuming.

The more I see and read, the more likely I will pass them.

Haha! Yeah, you're right. But Hasbro could've made something better than a bubble blower.
I think third parties and customizers can go nuts creating accessories for this. I really want a mini gun for this guy or another cleaver sword.
The ionic pulse launchers from the voyager version doesn't look half bad attached to it in vehicle form.
You doing a quick review of Predaking too?

Re: Quick review: BH Ultimate Optimus Prime

Got this on order, but after seeing it now not to happy, was hoping it was going to be the same as the voyager but with rocket pack and wings.

Wish the cab was a little tighter to the wheels.

If I keep this, (most likley, might return and wait for a price reduction) the carry handle will have to go and some modding I will need, ie paint, wings, pack and a BIG ASS Gatlin gun

PS thanks for the review

No, there's nothing to say about that figure other than its biggest feature is looking good. Boring to transform, boring gimmicks. LOL!

Haha. Predaking does look good in both modes. What's surprising is that I can get better poses out of Optimus even though Pred, has better articulation. At least these two can get into an epic sword duel.
