80's toy catalog

I remember when I was a kid, we used to have this Toy catalog where we used to order our toys from. That was the good days. But what ever happened to the toy catalog? Did it get replaced by online ordering?

I think you're thinking of Consumers Distributing? I remember that store and catalogue system as a kid, flipping through it with my dad and helping him find the product skus to fill their order forms with. If you've lived in QC your whole life, it looks like they were called Distribution aux Consommateurs over there back then. According to Wiki, they shut down in 96 due to bankruptcy.

I vaguely remember them when I was very young.

Re: 80's toy catalog

Your either thinking of a store catalogue or product catalogues that used to come with toys. And you be getting the two confused.

It was Consumers Distributing! You could order buy phone or send in the order form and you picked up your order at the store. You could do ordering at the store also but you still had to fill out the form. I remember buying Nintendo games from there!

Consumers Distributing was like fast food for kids. Look at the menu, place your order, feast on plastic! The conveyor belt concept was exhilarating for a kid. The anticipation killed me every time. It was like Xmas morning when it popped through the curtain.

It could have been the Sears Wish book at Xmas it was all toys. Either way most of the Dept stores had catalogues
