G1/Generations Devastator (pic heavy)

hey gang, it's about time I put up another project thread, and this time it's a big one. Yes, bigger than MP Shockwave. (ego, what's that?)

Having seen so many Devastator customs using the same molds and the same parts to get the same effect, I held off making my own as I wanted to do something that innovated the design, and make mine somewhat unique among the spectrum of versions that have been made. A thread on TFW2005 gave me that inspiration, and a challenge:

Scratch-building a Devastator without using many - if any - Unicron parts. That means no forearms, hands, thighs, waist or knees. This should be fun [EDIT] - fffffffff D:

But enough exposition, I'll be constantly updating this thread and showing my progress.

(WIP pics up to today)

More text, hurray! Bonecrusher is made from a KO version of Devastator called "Intelligence Warrior" (Liquidation World/Big Lots! has them in 2 packs. wink wink). I gave his treads articulation (though I should find a way to hide the knee joint in dozer mode), used the deluxe Prime arms and head and the shoulder joints from an Energon Tow-Line. The rest of the torso is being scratch-built.

UPDATE: DECEMBER 29TH, 2011

Tonight's work has accomplished a bit more detail work on Bonecrusher. I've added some styrene details on the torso and waist that homage the G1 toy, and continued work on my false torso that hides the arms in dozer mode.

These pics are part wip pics, part comparison between 'Crusher and his G1 counterpart.

UPDATE; JANUARY 4, 2012

Happy new year everyone! Finally managed to get some stuff done on Bonecrusher (damn work shifts >.<). I really am liking how he is coming along, and after a few more adjustments, he should be ready for primer.

But to list the stuff that has been done;
- Finished the chest/arm cover in bulldozer mode
- started on the second leg (glue must dry)
- completed both shoulder details (making them looks more like the G1 toy)
- finished the gun

Mal... MAL! Do you have any idea how amazing this looks? I'll admit that when you told me you were working on your own Devastator, I kinda dismissed it (too many Devastators following the same formula burned me out) but this is the closest G1 interpretation I've seen yet!

You said that you wanted to make you mark on the Devastator scene and I think you will. Keep up the great work, Mal!
