I've been screwed over too by brokerage frees. Not as bad as you but it was in the triple digits. It's the worst.

I didn't even bother trying. I hate that it's a huge sum, but honestly there's little I can do without help from the seller and he's clammed up, even after I left the positive feedback and apologised for getting ragey.
Adopt a bad attitude for whatever reason and people assume the worst, that's how it goes. It's a learning experience so move on and remember to rein in your emotions the next time something similar should occur.
