Can't hurt to try, just say that it's for your little nephew or something and that you picked the wrong one or something 
But the official return policy for Sears is 30 days, with unopened packaging. I got mine on the 9th Oct, returned yesterday no problem (or explanation, really).

They've been at all the Edmonton area Costco's for almost a week now.
I went 3 days after I found out they showed up and it looked like they hardly sold any. I suspect though that they'll be gone by the end of the first week in Dec.

He is part of the X-Mas toy blitz that Costco normally gets during that season. It's not just Transformers, look at the Lego stock now, the Marvel related items, ect

Lots of Lego is already gone at our location...a lot of train sets, and I believe that Metroplex will disappear as Nov gets under way...I was thinking of snagging an extra, but I'd rather try to get an AmericanPlex if at all possible.

This year and last Costco got in the LEGO City Advent calendars. $28 down from $40. They sold out quickly both seasons!
