I wonder if there is any easily identifiable difference between 1st and 2nd runs of the MP-08X. If there is not then all those $999US+ eBay sellers must be pretty mad by now

$259US for the second run is still pretty steep but I am not going to miss it this time. I like the comic color scheme & the box art.

Any idea which would be best for a Canadian collector to order in terms of shipping cost? I'm not that experienced in ordering from these places.

Honestly it baffles my mind that someone would pay 2200 for ex to buy the igear come heads that lizhhengui sells for or the mo08x. I could fly to china for 2k!

Masterpieces are not for investment I keep telling friends because they will saturate the market eventually because of the demand. It goes like this first release ltd then release in Difft colours then the original again (mp-10). Be patient save your money and tell scalpers they need a more socially acceptable occupation.

You can wait for a Canadian source (e.g. Automaton Toys, A3U, etc) when they start taking preorders. Or, since this is a TakaraTomy '08X' 2nd run I assume you can preorder one from one of the Japanese etailers (e.g. hlj, 1999, etc) sooner or later.

Just a couple of days ago I saw someone won a MP08X auction for $760-ish on eBay and I thought it was the lowest going price for a while...

The first edition runs of MP09x was $249.99usd. It is roughly on par to the original release. I passed up on it because I was happy with my MP09 at 199.99usd at the time and still have it. That was quite a few years ago though. With all the releases of MP Grimlock recently its take that elite collector to pull the trigger on this one. I already have four versions of this mold and with FTs release on the horizon. Do I honestly need another... That variant is nice though.
