Candy Linked to Adult Violence?

Apparently a study has been done that shows eating candy as a child leads to violent behaviour as an adult. I've been considering writing a paper on this, but I would first like to hear people's opinion on it.

True? False? Needs more research? Full of bologna?

I don't buy it.

Violent behavior is not a new problem; Sugar consumption is. If the study was true, violent crimes would be on the rise, which it is not.

They are looking to make the correlation work without looking at the thousand of other factors that make a person who they are.

Re: Candy Linked to Adult Violence?

I don't buy it personally, but would definitely be interesting to look at more research on it. I would look at this as a case of looking to place the blame on something else for someone being an idiot. "I didn't mean to kill that man... it was the Snickers bar I had as a child!" I know that is an unrealistic statement... but you get the idea.

I personally think people should be eating more candy! The more sugar the better!!

Re: Candy Linked to Adult Violence?

Personally, after reading the study, candy seemed to be used by parents who had no other recourse but to use candy to subdue their child. Its sounds more likely to me that the issue has more to do with discipline than candy.

Candy is just an excuse by lazy parents. It can't be us its the candies fault.

BTW I may go on a rampage later this afternoon on account of all the halloween candy I have been eating today. People in Calgary beware.

Re: Candy Linked to Adult Violence?

Let's see a Violent Adult could imply they are angry. Anger is usually a result of Stress in the form of Loss or Hurt. So my guess, as a child someone stole candy from them causing the stress that led to anger and eventually led to violent behavior as an Adult.

And know you know why they say "you wouldn't steal candy from a baby?"

BAH! FLIMSHAW!!

Was this study done by the same scientist that discovered men can't work at Tim Hortons?

I've seen it. There's one in Burlington sometimes almost entirely run by men.
