This makes everyone want a Rodimus, and anyone who has one to jack up the price to whatever they want. If there was no Protector armor coming out for him, no one would want him so bad, no one would charge an arm and a leg for him. Same thing goes for all of the Commander armor sets(Shadow, City, DIA, etc, etc)
Actually classics Rodimus was elevated before the armor set was announced. He wasn't as high as he now is, but he still went up to like triple the original retail price, for what ever reason, I want to say a couple years back - iirc.

I don't think so, same as the classics Magnus/Prime jumped in price as soon as the city commander/dia commander were announced/came out. Heck, even selling a Rodimus at 30 isn't that bad, it's people taking advantage cause of an impending Protector set. You'll start seeing with the new 3-pack tha people will still try to sell one at an elevated price.

When was that armor set announced? I thought it was this year?

Maybe I'm off on my times but I seem to remember Rodimus going for $30, then $50 and then jumping further with that announcement.

No, I feel like we've known about protectors at least since TFCon 2009, although back then I think they were only showing blacked out silhouettes...

It might be the case that it felw under the radar of some people, and the price just kept rising as more people found out about the set.

I think you are right about the timeline. I remember seeing the teaser images of the armor at TFcon that year and bought a Henkei Rodimus for around $20 right at the show. Since then the price has just been going up and up.

Back to the scalper topic... We should just stop bringing Nocturn to these things. It was him... right? He looks kind of shifty to me.

I could be mistaken then. I haven't seen a Rodimus in Winnipeg in two years for less than $30, but in a bigger market with more competiton I'd assume a lower price could be had.

AT C4 last year we had Classics Cliffjumper selling for $25 - $30, nevermind Rodimus.

nope, there was a large drawing of it at tfcon 2008 when fp was in the back corner showing off the custom powered commander in the case. that was when rodimus started to climb
