Brimstone: Minor redeco

This is my first custom paint job. I picked up HFTD Brimstone a couple weeks ago and really like the mold, but wasn't diggin' the pale grey plastic. Thanks to Dak's TFCon customizing class I thought I would try to do something about it. Below is the the result. I think I got bit by the bug some of you guys often talk about. I was rather pleased with the results and got to thinking about some improvements for some of my other figures. My wife was out of town with the camera when I started this project, so the before shots are care of some "donated" web pics.

Don't own an airbrush so had to do everything by hand except the spray can of gloss. Used Testors Chrome paint on all the grey plastic, seat studs, gas cap and front disks. It turned out looking more like a brushed steel than actual chrome, but IMO anything is better than the previous grey. Put black on the grips, brake lines and chain. Covered everything with a couple coats of gloss. All comments/critiques welcome.

Also wondering, does anyone know of a paint/material/technique to achieve and actual chrome finish?

Re: Brimstone: Minor redeco

Thanks for the comments guys. This thing took about 4 hours total (not including drying times), and it is only a scout class! Gives me a whole new appreciation for the custom paint jobs that some of the masters do on larger figures, not to mention kitbashes and scratch builds. In my mind Chans and the others are now elevated to Hercules status.

And thanks for the heads up osotech. I think if I am going to get into the customizing thing I'm really going to need to invest in an airbrush. Just gotta save up a little; checked around and those things plus a compressor are a good chuck'o'change.
