at some point I will build my own using the side panels from my detolfs as shelves. Until then these will have to do. Because mine are under the stairs I can't go any higher. For those who have the space and money I do suggest something other than detolfs.

Maybe even throw in a decent base with drawers and a crown moulding up top to to hide the pot lights that could be installed along the top.

In essence the side glass that normally sits side by side when the units are together could be removed and used for more front and rear panels, making three wide turn to five wide.
I have thought of that as well. Wouldn't be that hard at all. Structural, integrity may be hard to accomplish.

Re: Rev's Toys

Just remember that the metal rods are compression pieces. And glass is really really strong. Granted, the dato should cut deep enough that the glass is essentially free floating and the rods take the pressure from the wooden top and base.

My dad is a cabinet maker and I was going to ask him to make the pieces for me for a xmas present.

Re: Rev's Toys

Actually thinking more on this, the recessed slots would be better if cut with a router than a dato.

Re: Rev's Toys

I'm going to make the sides and back out of wood and glass doors and shelves. Just to keep it simple.
