How much $$$ is Too Much?

How much money are you willing to spend on a single TF toy? Obviously it depends on whether it's MP, Mint G1, Third Party, exclusive, or needed add-on kit. But where is the pain threshold for you?

Re: How much $$$ is Too Much?

I wrote the skys the limit only because a few figures have been over 200 for me and it has yet to stop me. However there are lots of figures I find personally over priced. I only need two more Alts and be done the line but seeing them for $70.00-$100.00 each shipped has stopped me so far.

Re: How much $$$ is Too Much?

Interesting question.

My gut reaction when I read your post was $300 and that includes third party, eBay, MP, rereleases etc.. But if I'm being fair, the reason for that # is because I've never seen anything with $300 worth of quality in it.

Take the new TFC hercules for example, at $500-$600 it's probably the most expensive buy in price for a TF ever, but if it were up to say Fansprojects quality and detail, I would buy it without reservation. As it stands I will be getting the Maketoys "giant" and at around $300 And I am happy to pay it.

So yeah I think my "too much" threshold is $300 (BAPE g1 prime I'm looking at you)

A cringeworthy $200 is my limit.

I rarely pay more than $40 after taxes for a single items. Only thime that has happened was because it was for either a character I really liked or was actually worth it.

Re: How much $$$ is Too Much?

my limit is $300 before shipping on a single TF. to spend that much on a single figure, I must really want it and so far I have not spent that much on a TF. the most I've spent was $250 for MP-04 and MP-10.

Re: How much $$$ is Too Much?

It really varies for me. I would have to say I judge each figure on an individual basis and try and decide if it is worth the money. Am I getting value for what I pay for? Most of the time, that debate starts around the $100 to $150 mark.

Re: How much $$$ is Too Much?

Honestly, it depends how much I have saved up in my TF budget, which is basically a saving account where I pour about 40-65% of my paycheck into it.

With that being said, over $250 is pricey (depending on what it is) for non-G1 stuff

Since I'm the stereotypical poor University student, I'm gonna say $100 before shipping/taxes is where I call the line.
