KO Gift Sets Taboo??

I was recently looking for the KO combiners that were done in gift set form and someone said their kinda taboo now cause were coming from Hong Kong and can't get them anywhere now.

Is this true and why now would they be Taboo??

Was it this set you're looking for? Or was it the KO with the G1 style packaging?

They are taboo, because online stores that sold the KO's were told by hasbro to stop. Where hasbro said to the store's, that they will cut them off of their official products or expect a retaliation. The KO's had to go back to being sold underground.

Gradus: To answer, it was the G1 style gift set KO's.

What real difference would it make if certain places sold KO's. Am sure Hasbro makes enough that they're not that worried about losing a little bit so people can get a cheaper version

The main reason would be copyright infringement. Most of the time when these sets are made not everyone will say that it is a KO, and then try to sell the KO off as an official product. That or even claim it as an "unofficial reproduction" even though it will still have all of the hasbro copyright marks and dates.

That's why the 3rd party sets get a bit more flexibility, they never claim to be official transformer products, where as the gift set and various other G1 KO's used to.
