Re: G1 DVD Matrix boxset
This thing certainly ended up costing me more than the $140 and change I expected, but I can live with it. I mean, this was the one thing from my childhood that I had to have no matter the cost. It's not like I'll be buying anymore of them so I guess in the end it's still worth it for me.

Well it used to...FedEx used to send you a bill 2 weeks later for their fees. I used to always send it back "Not at this address" RTS
Looks like they want $ upfront now.

No, they'll just send a collections agency after you.

Re: G1 DVD Matrix boxset
Just a note. Its not really FEDEX that is charging you, but Canadian Customs. If you look at the "bill" you will see that it should add up to the Canadian taxes (Provincial and Federal) plus their "handling" fee. Problem is, they calculate the shipping cost in the total cost, so you end up paying taxes on shipping too.
Since Fedex is charged at the border for this, they pass on the cost to you.

There is no brokerage and handling fee from FedEx? Usually that's what makes up most of the charge is the brokerage that FedEx does on your behalf.
Tax on $140 would be like $7.

Re: G1 DVD Matrix boxset
The charges are PST + GST on the declared value (150 USD, so roughly 175 CAD) + a 10$ fee.

Well i've done it 5 times and nobody has ever come after me for it...
But their policy looks to have changed.
And yes FedEx has a brokerage firm...that's probably the $10 fee...I'm pretty sure they were bought out and integrated into the company. Or so I'm pretty sure how it went, when I actually worked for FedEx Customs some years ago...Canada Customs has nothing to do with them unless it's illegal goods entering the country...ie. weapons or contraband which they come and seize.
