Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat
I figure in my case, I didn't actually get to watch television hardly at all and growing up I had virtually no toys. One of the few childhood shows I do remember watching was the G1 Transformers. And a childhood boy friend gave me his G1 Optimus Prime for my 11th or 12th birthday. I have him somewhere in this apartment, though I can't find him and he's missing his fists.
So I think this collecting of Transformers is trying to recapture what I never had as a child.

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat
It's kinda similar for me. We never had cable TV so I only got to watch it on VHS when my parents rented it once in awhile. I had a few toys, but not many, and there were always more I wished I could've had. Lucky for me my parents/grandparents bought me Powermaster Prime for Christmas when I was 5 or 6 and he accompanied me wherever I could take him... of course as you can guess he's now all busted and missing most of his parts. But recapturing that childhood magic and fulfilling dreams was a huge part of getting into this hobby. Same goes for most of my hobbies, actually.

For myself, I also need to keep my hands and mind busy or I can be somewhat self-destructive and compared to the old G1 Transformers, these are mini-puzzles.

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat
I like having that one thing i'm really into and I have a collector brain. I like to go get another one of the things I like. I'm not too concerned with being complete, as I gave that up long time ago as its just not possible.

LOL You keep your childhood boy friend somewhere in your apt?

Yes of course, DC. Don't you keep childhood friends locked away too? Or is that what qualifies as kidnapping?

One of the great things about my job is I'm on the phone a lot in a ground floor office to myself with a lockable door and a window that looks out onto a golf course. I usualy convert one of the Masterpieces on my bookshelf while I'm on a call. I've often wondered if the person on the other end can hear the ratchting joints .
Once, while on a particularly long call, I converted Quakewave into his magnificent laser gun mode and back. I was so into it I hadn't noticed all the people walking by my office that could see me from the hallway brandishing that badass purple pistol. After the call I went to the cafeteria for coffee and one of my colleagues remarked "So...I hope your phaser was on stun."

That sounds like a green light to expand that collection. Any time she questions that stack of new transformers you have just say you had a choice, either the stack of transformer or the stack of p*rn. the transformers were cheaper and you could show them to children without getting arrested.

This is a little like me. I did have transformers, but I had to buy them on my own by saving up lunch money and pop cans. I had a friend who's mother got him everything as soon as it hit the shelves. Seeing someone get all the Predacons/Predaking at the same time was torture. Especially when I was struggling to get the tiny scramble city limbs one at a time with weeks in between.

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat
weird...I just found out on my youtube account that I "purchased" DOTM from google play for free earlier this year. I never did (I check my google wallet transactions) and I know I'd never buy that POS movie after watching it in theatre. The date of purchase was also the date my Nexus 4 delivered.
hmmmm....

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat
Bro I gave my brother money to go get any movie for us to watch last year.
He came home with DOTM on Blu-ray. I now actually own that POS.
