Generations/Classics/3rd party opinions

Since, I've made my mind to go with Cloud Optimus, Hegemon Megatron. While I will complete the missing characters with some 3rd party like the minibots Brawn, Bee, Cliff ect... Which versions of the characters would you recommend to go with a CHUG collection? Keep in mind, I on the scale side.

Ironhide: Henkei or Igear
Ratchet: Same as Ironhide
Prowl: Henkei, Combiner Wars, but my only issue is there is no CW Bluestreak, there's only Prowl and Smokescreen.
Ultra Magnus: Beast Hunters, Combiner Wars

I'd go with whatever you find at the best price. But personally, I'd avoid Classics Ratchet and Ironhide. In my opinion, they are very subpar toys.

It's funny how to people can look at the same thing have two different impressions. Though the alt mode for this mold is pretty sub par, I think the bot mode looks pretty good, very cartoon-esq. 😁

Lol, agreed. I don't put down anyone who enjoys them, but they've always been a bit of a letdown to me. I'm glad you like them though

Re: Generations/Classics/3rd party opinions

iGear for Ironhide and Ratchet; the Classics/Henkei versions have too many unusual panel lines in alt mode and its just a shame their heads are always aimed downwards.

Henkei Prowl; as you've said it yourself before, Ironwave, the Datsun bros just aren't the same without their signature door wings and twin shoulder missiles.

CW Ultra Magnus because I think it fits the aesthetics with the rest of your collection better than the animated look.

For Ironhide, Ratchet and Prowl: I'd go with Henkei version because of the cartoon appeal as Sun Swipe Prime mentioned, and for me the chrome adds a certain appeal. But with Ultra Magnus I would go with Combiner Wars because its more in scale.

I gotta say that if you are considering the iGear versions of Ironhide and Ratchet, you'd be far better off to get the Takara MP versions.

In my opinion, the offical MPs are much more cartoon-accurate, and would likely be less expensive than the iGear toys. Not to mention much easier to find. I just looked at a handful of the big online retailers, and none of them had the iGear molds in stock.

This is easy, Igear Ironhide and Ratchet if you got the scratch for it. Henkei Prowl and DEF Combiner Wars magnus, hands down. He is fantastic.

MP Takara Ironhide, won't scale good with the rest of the Autobots.

Yeah, Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus for sure.

The rest are up in the air, depending on your budget/desire. If you're looking for a classics/henkei vibe, stick with those over something like combiner wars. I think when you put a combiner wars prowl next to classics/henkei prowl, you'll see what I mean. The combiner wars may be fun, but don't have the pose-ability and polish of the classics line.
