To box, or not to box..
That is the question!
So I just bought a MISB Masterpiece Megs from Dark_Rage (thanks again!), and I'm left with a bit of a paradox. Do I unbox it and display it nicely beside my MP Prime? Or do I leave it boxed for sheer collector value so it doesn't depreciate? I'm not much of a collector to be honest, I just happen to love the MP pieces. They're amazing "toys" (not really toys though).
What are your thoughts, guys?
I guess another option is to open it from the bottom and carefully remove it so I can at least keep it MIB, but not "new".
Argh..

Re: To box, or not to box..
IMO MPs are meant to be opened and displayed. and MP Megs looks very nice next to MP Prime.

Re: To box, or not to box..
Well I can understand keeping some stuff boxed, but it's Transformers we're talking about, they're meant to be played and fiddled with...
On some exceptions, they kick ass in box (20th Anniv. Prime, first edition) but since you can't even see Megatron from outside the package, there is no point to keep him in box. Unless you bought him specifically to re-sell it (which you seem inclined not to since you already have a place for him, besides Prime) I say go ahead and open him.

Open, display beside each other then keep the box for travel later in life i.e moving, etc.

Re: To box, or not to box..
It's been said, but true. Open and display it. It's a great display piece especially beside Prime. There's no window so you can't see it. You could technically have a MISB Brick in there...

I'd open it, for the same reasons already stated above.

Re: To box, or not to box..
I regretfully don't own any MP's but from what I've seen they are incredible display and play pieces.
If I was single with a disposable income again I'd buy two, and I'd splurge and get the aftermarket upgrade kit to make the opened Megatron look more like the "Man From U.N.C.L.E." Walther P-38 (like he was meant to look).
But if you can only afford one I'd open it but maybe invest in a glass display case that you can take him in and out of.
There's nothing more annoying than visitors who come over and play with your TFs when you're in the other room.

Re: To box, or not to box..
Glad you're enjoying the MP Megs, and the dilemma, lol.
My solution is easy: Keep 1 for display and 1 for MISB!
And maybe another one for trading and what not...heh.
But seriously, if you can live without being curious about the transformation process (reading the manual online won't help), you can keep it in the box.
