Re: Transformers: The Last Knight Opens at #1 in US

Honestly, had they ditched about 30-45min worth of footage that really doesn't need to be there, it would have been better overall. For example, Grimlocks scenes are IN THE TRAILER. Nemeis Prime, also all in the trailer. Hell, the trailer shows Prime saving Cade and Vivian so it wasn't a surprise. I was more surprised Prime didn't die this time.
I would have:
1 - Not bothered with Izabel nor Sqweeks. I get they wanted that demograph but they really serve no real purpose.
2 - Just leave the Dinbots in China and wait for TF6 to fully utilize them. Seriously, Grimlock is awesome but why have him here? He doesn't even join the final battle.
3 - Suicide Squad Decepticons scene. Would have had more impact if 90% of them didn't die shortly after.
4 - Since I found the Decepticon scene pointless, so does the entire abandoned town scene. Between Decepticons and TRF, they could have skipped it.

Mash the scenes that do work and I enjoyed it. As a whole, it needed to be more focused.

That's an interesting point.
What other mass-market flag characters can show up?

Stunticons maybe? Aerialbots?
Did China get Masterforce in any way? Maybe we see something like that even though it wasn't in mainstream NA media.

I just wish it was possible to have a well received AND successful movie.

This movie better flop, doesn't have to flop hard enough to get the whole franchise cancelled, just enough that no one wants Michael Bay back.

After five movies this needs a fresh take SO BAD! In terms of design and storylines and characters and direction...

China better not prove itself to have trash-tier taste and ruin it for us by going in drove to see that clunker again

You mean in this franchise, or in general?
