Re: Should we close the sightings threads?
good debate with polarizing opinions yet still civil on both sides.
Hopefully society will follow suit when the shit hits the fan in a few weeks

Re: Should we close the sightings threads?
Closing the official sightings thread won't stop people from posting elsewhere, in another thread, or starting a thread in the General Discussion Forum.
"I wasn't sure where to post. I couldn't post in the sightings thread for some reason, but I was at WM on Iacon Drive in Crystal City and I saw..."
Yea... so kinda pointless to close the sightings thread.
I know, myself, I will stay in as much as possible.
Luckily, for me, I am not interested in any of the current releases, save ER Cliffjumper. But I don't care enough to go out for it. Anything else I want I have pre-ordered.
Be safe everyone. Not everyone who gets infected will get (adversely) sick, but everyone can be a carrier. It is not just one's personal health at stake.
If I do happen to be out at a WM for supplies, I probably would swing by the toy aisle. I will not post any sightings though. That's just my belief, and that suits me fine. I am not necessarily expecting others to have the same Modus Operandi. I will be disappointed to see a sighting posted. I figure I won't bother posting sightings until the schools are open again.
Again, be safe everyone!

Re: Should we close the sightings threads?
I say leave them. The people who lack common sense and give in to their addiction and go out toy hunting anyways are going to do it whether they see a new sighting post or not.
Remember people, the longer we resist social distancing, the longer we're going to have to do it!
Besides, I think Walmart is probably the only place with toys still open right now.
My son's 9th birthday is coming up, and while calling TRU, my wife found out that while people will still be working there (doing what, I don't know), they won't be opening the doors. They told her that if you order online and select "in store pick-up", they will basically leave it at the door for you after you call and tell them the pertinent info.
So no one can actually go in the store anyways.

Actually, no. SARs was a much deadlier virus, it was just harder to transmit, so it was easier to contain. Most who died from it were dead 72 hours after symptoms presented.

Re: Should we close the sightings threads?
People are still reporting their transformers sighting these couple days, so it drags other collectors going out to grab Transformers(believe it or not, some people are that dumb). This is not a game, it's serious. The sighting should be temporary closed for now unless you don't care about people getting the virus.

Re: Should we close the sightings threads?
We shouldn't have to close it down. We should be responsible adults and show care and restraint by not posting there. Moderate ourselves. I have been FORCED out of my house several times this week after my father passed away. I have had to spend time in a hospital, at a funeral home, and still must do a few more trips for things that have no online option. I have made the painful choice to delay his funeral, likely by MONTHS, in order to make sure that I don't put a single person at risk.
I hate being out. I worry about my own lungs as I'm asthmatic. I worry about getting my wife and children sick. So, please, be considerate. If you can, and most of you seem able to do so, order online as much as possible. Get what you need, but be responsible. Love one another. Enjoy what you have for now and let the rest go. Don't go out. Even if the risk to your own person is low, the harm you may inadvertently do... just think about it. And for what?
Everyone should act as if they have the virus themselves and want to protect anyone they might see or run into. Don't post the store sightings. Online sightings, however, go for it.
Be kind and love one another. Thanks for listening. Hug your loved ones.

The7thParallel, you have my deepest condolences. Losing a parent isn't easy under normal circumstances. Losing one while in these trying times compounds the uncertainty in figuring out how to proceed.
I wish I had the words to lessen the weight, but I don't.
Keep safe, and try not to let the darkness around us dim hope.
