Thank Primus for modern toy technology!

So, a little while ago my wife enlightens me to the fact that this morning, while I slept, she had my son downstairs in my man cave while she got ready to go out with him and that had apparently been playing with my Legends Swerve, Cosmos, and Tailgate, the two pack guys.

This is pretty unusual for him since he knows not to touch my stuff and he has his own shelf full of Rescue Bots to play with down there.

So I just went downstairs to survey the damage, and while I was putting them back in place I noticed that Swerve's arms looked "off". Well apparently the boy had pulled them off and she had tried to put them back on. Upside down.

Thankfully they are ball joints so I could just pop them off, turn them around and put them back on properly.

And that's when I thought to myself; "Thank you modern toy technology!" Because if this had happened to a vintage toy I would have been screwed, and there would have been lots of yelling.

Anything like this happen to anyone else?

My kids aren't allowed to touch or even go near my stuff......period. They have their own they can lose the parts to.

Happened to me once but it was my fault because the toy was accessible. At the time my son was 4 and had his Rescue Bots Optimus and decided to play with my WST Prime. When I got home that night from work I noticed it was missing. I asked him where it was because only he would touch it. (He never did before and hasn't since) but never the less he figured it must transform the same way so he could play with it and put it back. Unfortunately he broke the arm and lost the gun. For it being WST i can replace it if I wish but it's fine in alt mode. He was so scared of what was going to happen that he hid it. When he showed it to me I told him that I was upset and this was the reason that he can't touch them yet since they are more advanced then he could handle at the time. Now he just stares at them as he used to, waiting for the day daddy says "OK their all yours, or you can play with them now"

I love the animated line for this very reason, easy to put back together. Without fail when I was buying animated by the cart full (thank you superstore sales) I would let my son play with them right out of the box...just so he could fulfill his fix. He wouldn't have them more than 2 minutes and something would have "popped off all by itself!". Needless to say the masterpiece line is off limits for him.

My kids don't care about transformers which is weird cause throughout their life I always had toys and transformers and my oldest is 16 even the 9 and 11 year old don't care about transformers which is weird it's all mine craft and Lego for them
They know not to touch them
When I am gone I worry cause they don't know half of what I got

Dido. You mess with the bull, you get the horns. Today's toys suck. The single worst thing I dislike about today's toys are ball joints. Worst invention ever.

I like ball joints for added articulation.
But they were Not built for popping off and on repeatedly.

That causes micro cracks that weakens the joint and loosens the connection.

Ball joints are great if not abused.

I've had the ball joint separate on me as well. I think there is a "benefit" both ways. The ball joint can separate more easily than the traditional joint. So, instead of breaking, it pops off, which is nice. The force required to separate a ball joint, to me, seems to be a lot less than what it would take to break a traditional joint. I can't imagine what it would be like to transform a G1 Optimus that had ball joints...

However I do agree that while ball joints should not be abused, they are a far cry better than the old G1's where if you popped off an arm that sucker was broken and you had to buy a new one!

Compared to that, I'll take ball joints every day.
