Gonna be in Montreal next week.

Anyone know of any decent Japanese import toy stores in Montreal?

Red face Re: Gonna be in Montreal next week.

^ Protoman's home?

I'm sure more product moves through his home than some stores

Re: Gonna be in Montreal next week.

Honestly, there aren't really (m)any.
Your best bet would be Sci-fi Anime at 2186 Sainte-Catherine Ouest, Suite 101 (514-482-7844). Very friendly owner (he also runs the place with his wife), and very popular place to Montrealers (I believe the owner is a personal friend of Protoman's).
Toys on Fire (Jouets en Feu) at 1539 Van Horne (514-948-2627) might do at a pinch.

I'm a big import guy as well, but as much as I'd like to support my local businesses, I can get WAY better prices by ordering online...

yeah, that's how I am also. But I am looking for some specific items that have long been sold out everywhere including online and are only going for outrageous eBay prices. My last resort is local import shops that hopefully still have something sitting around gathering dust. I figured I would go for a quick hunt while on vacay. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll check em out.

I 2nd FreedomGundam's statement, while I have been a long time customer of Sci Fi Anime, the prices are balls. Save your money bro

Re: Gonna be in Montreal next week.

lou from sci-fi anime's been there for years. pricing isn't the best but you can always haggle with him. make sure to bring cash there for more rebates.

same thing goes for toys on fire but you gotta know the ladies a bit. one with the short hair loves kimonos and the other is an artist, does artwork with toys. the new guy is an ass though. brown man tactics don't work with him, i think cause he's new or maybe because he's a guy. the guy works on mondays normally i avoid going there whenever he's there. the owners name is dave. i got a couple of good price from him as well.

there's also legends near jean talon. the only guy who actually gives rebates there is the asian guy and is barely there. the store does have import stuff but not a lot.

Re: Gonna be in Montreal next week.

Cool. Thanks for the tips. I'm heading into Montreal tonight and will be there until Thursday. Probably hit up those places on Tuesday. Gf has never been there so she wants to hit up one of those city tours tomorrow.
