YEARGHHHHH! I hate work politics!
Christmas party is today after work. I had it all planned out: make an appearance, have some quick dinner, then out the door by 5:30 pm. By 6 pm, I'll be at a bar to watch the fights. By 7 pm, I'll have a couple beers in me with a nice buzz to enjoy GSP kicking Koscheck's ass.
I just learned dinner won't be served until much later at the party, and by the time I get out, the main even fight will already be starting, so there's really no point to skip out to see the fights.
I can deal with missing the fights, but this is what bothers me: my boss expects me to be there, regardless. WTF? I mean, they tell you it's optional, but then your boss says, "... but you really should show up..." Translation: If you know what's good for your career, you should show.
I can't stand it when they pull that cryptic passive aggressive crap. If you think everyone should go, just make it freaking mandatory! Otherwise, don't hold it against me if I don't show up to some lame office party! Seriously, I spend 40+ hours a week with these people, busting my ass to make sales. That's more time than I spend with my family and friends combined! And yet I still have to show to a lame party and trade $10 secret santa presents with some dude I probably hate because I think he's incompetent!
Sorry, but I had to rant.

Re: YEARGHHHHH! I hate work politics!
$50? That's just mean. The big regional party cost $30 per person, and I skipped out on it since I was on vacation. But I gotta go to this one. At least there's no entrance fee. Just a silly $10 secret santa gift. WTF can you buy for $10 these days anyway? You can't even get a delux TF. I bought a $10 starbucks card, which should buy like what, one coffee?
