I imagine the reason we got the comics in some prior releases and not these has more to do with how broadly they plan to release Generations.
The DOTM guys were a Zellers exclusive, and the Jetstorm/Jetfire a single special multipack - these Generations toys are the mainline Deluxes that are getting the big push over the next year until the movie line. So they don't want to limit their exposure lest they lose shelf space.
Also, the Hasbro layoffs may have affected this too to an extent. Who knows?

A few extra bucks at the comic store to pick them up with the actual spotlight comic was worth it then

well thats annoying. Its like having them devalued before we even get them. It'll also get them scalpers roused up for the US versions

Another tidbit: when my buddy was getting Trailbreaker at Hasbro's booth, they were saying last minute (I'm assuming for that weekend) they messed up & packaging was blank so they had to go back and tampo on that Orion Pax image. Not sure if it'll be as noticeable on the retail version.
