Re: Star Wars Episode VII Discussion (Spoilers Within)

I tried takng a pic of the Disney Kylo saber but it was too hard to capture the beam intensity. Btw, if you see the Elite Series figures at the Disney Store, remember they are 7" scale, not 6".

Available on-line for $60 USD shipped to Canada

Though I must confess I am disappointed that they went with a re-packaging of Anakin's ROTS saber.

Would have preferred if they retooled it with the screen accurate ESB-style HP-44 bus-type computer card edge connector control panel.

Heck...I would have even preferred the ANH-style calculator bubbles.

Re: Star Wars Episode VII Discussion (Spoilers Within)

Anyone see it in AVX Atmos 3D? I really don't understand why it cost more aside from the reserved seating. The IMAX experience is much better sound.

Overall, the 3D was typical. Hardly noticeable. Some cools moments. Don't expect Lightsabers coming through the screen.

YEP!! saw it each day so easy to tell the difference.

1st viewing AVX Atmos 3D
2nd VIP 3D
3rd VIP reg

AVX was better sound compaired to the VIP
AVX Seats recline better than reg seats, not as wide as VIP's

Compairing it to IMAX,(based on memory) almost the same i would say because we sat middle frontish, sound seemed almost the same too.

Really wanted to see it in IMAX as well, but couldn't get those tickets on openening weekend

Cost

IMAX 19.50
AVX 15.50
VIP 19.50
Reg 10.50 ( in Mission only) 13.50 elsewhere

Re: Star Wars Episode VII Discussion (Spoilers Within)

Fans are encouraged to enhance their Star Wars experience by wearing costumes at theatres across Canada, but props and toys that could become tripping hazards or impair vision in a theatre are best left at home. Guests are prohibited from wearing masks or carrying toy weapons of any kind.

so this just came attached to my ticket reminder from Cineplex and I have to say that I find it a little disappointing that they promote costumes but NO MASKS WTF that means someone that wanted to cosplay or a young one that wanted to wear his/her newly acquired mask will not be able to wear it.

I totally understand about the light saber and safety issues with a mask and all but all one has to do is simply remove the mask upon request and not wear it in to the viewing. Soon we wont be able to wear masks on Halloween or to Conventions. It would be different if I showed up wearing say a rubber dead Presidents mask to a STARWARS flick then that is a no no but if I wear a Darth Vader, Stormtrooper or Kylo Ren mask then that should be allowed as long as I am being responsible with said mask i.e Taking it off when asked if it is being a bother to other people and not wearing it in to the actual viewing. End Rant

Re: Star Wars Episode VII Discussion (Spoilers Within)

There were plenty of people that were in masked costumes at the opening screening I went to on Thursday night. I think you just have to take it off when you're in the lobby and when you're getting your ticket checked. I'm pretty sure most theaters are fine if you want to wear one as part of your costume while you're waiting in the theater or in line.
