Consumers was awesome. I remember getting my G2 Optimus Prime from there when nobody else in my area stocked it.

Re: Is Consumers Distributing making a comeback?

Interesting...

I've always wanted to pick up some old Consumers catalogs from about... '82/'83 until '88 or so. Sears Christmas ones too. Those things rocked!

I just have no idea where to look. Ebay, maybe?

Re: Is Consumers Distributing making a comeback?

I always had bad luck with Consumers as a kid. It was always a tense roll of the dice.

You give the slip to the lay at the cash and she disappears to the back......... you pray she comes back with something in her hands........... 9 times out of 10. She was empty handed.

Atleast that was my experience with the Plaza Cote Des Neige Montreal Consumers back in the day. G2 Laser Rod Prime? Out of stock. Street Fighter 2? Nope. Reboot toys? Sorry. Original Megazord? Forget it.

But those catalogs.... man....

Re: Is Consumers Distributing making a comeback?

I think it took me 4 tries to get G.I. Joe Storm Shadow from there.

Re: Is Consumers Distributing making a comeback?

I don't recall ever having any issues with them not having stuff on hand... Also, it was like a 5-minute walk away from my parents house.

A kid couldn't ask for more. The drawback was that there was no window shopping on-site like you could do at Zeller's or whatever store you preferred/was there.
