Repro label removal?

Bought a figure with reprolables on it, including the clear windshield. What's the best way to get them off. If I take them off does it leave a sticky glue behind? If so, how do you remove the glue without damaging the plastic?

I've removed them from figures before with little to no residue left behind. What was left behind I just rubbed with my figure until it collected into a ball and was easily removed.

Re: Repro label removal?

I'm surprised not more people do this; I've been doing this since I was a kid (not even sure how I started, but might've been discovered just through experimentation), and I've brought it up here a few times as well in the past years.

1) Take a small piece of masking tape (masking tape is my favorite to use, because the adhesive is stronger than scotch tape or electrical tape, but not as crazy as duct tape).
2) Put the piece of tape over the leftover glue
3) Rub it a little bit
4) Pull off quickly like you just waxed your leg (not that I'd know anything about that)
5) Repeat as necessary (the same piece of tape can actually be reused multiple times)

Basically, the leftover sticker adhesive will want to stick to the stickier substance (in this case, the masking tape adhesive) rather than the plastic. When you lift the masking tape, it should peel off some/most of the leftover glue. Just repeat as needed until you have a clean, glue-free surface.

Rubbing alcohol works as well. Just dab some on with a tissue or swab, wait about 10 seconds then scrape off with your fingernail. I use that trick all the time.

Only if the plastic underneath is unpainted, and DO NOT DO THIS ON CLEAR PLASTIC! Otherwise, this works wonders.

Re: Repro label removal?

You need a solvent for the glue. Goo-gone or kerosene or varsol (paint thinner equivalent) melts it instantly but it can fog up clear plastics so be careful.

Re: Repro label removal?

I use a bit of Zippo lighter fluid on a Q-Tip but don't use it on clear plastic or on painted surfaces.
