Considering Masterpiece Megatron: Thoughts?

Considering picking this up at TFCON, although I've heard nothing but horrible things in all the reviews. Is it worth is at the current price point for anyone that has one?

Was going to hold out for a new one, but with soundwave coming out, seems like a sin not to have Megatron too.

I've checked out the online reviews and they all predictably state the same things over and over, so basically asking for someone whos had one awhile, how's it holding up? Discolorations etc.

Thanks

Aside from the typical discolouration on his feet, mine has held up perfectly. I'm not sure what current price point you are looking at but I have seen them around the same price I paid when he first came out. IMHO he is a must have. Hope that helps

I've had mine for quite a long time and the only thing is the "cosmic rust" on his feet. Otherwise he is ok. I've even transformed him a couple times and no issues, mind you I was very careful when I did.

Re: Considering Masterpiece Megatron: Thoughts?

had mine for ages. no rust or discolouration etc but i HATE the figure personally.

i tried 1 time to transform it and never managed to because it felt like itwas going to snap in half so i put it back in robot mode and on display. it didnt even stay in my display long.

I personally think its to tall and lanky and has a hard time standing on its own even with the accessories pack with the leg things.

im a HUGE masterpiece fan and have them all but the crappy black rodimus and megatron IMO is the biggest fail of the line.

IMO unless you can get it for next to nothing i wouldnt bother because im sure they will do a reboot of him, though if hes a gun again or not no one knows.

others might like him but personally its the only masterpiece of mine that i hate.

Looking at about 150 budget for him, but by the sounds of it, he's worth no more than a morning Bowel movement...

I'd wait.

I'm willing to bet we're going to get a newer version in the next two years.

He's become very dated in the past few years IMHO.

^This. He was pretty awesome when he first came out, but after he started rusting out and snapping in half, he quickly went down as the worst MP ever.

I'd wait for an inevitable 2.0 version to go with MP-10. Or if you can't wait, get that Toy World Hegemon.

I have absolutely no doubt that there will be another MP Megs. Everyone squawked for years that there would never be an MP Soundwave because "kids don't like cassette players", and yet here we are. The whole "gun" thing won't stop them (maybe Hasbro, but not Takara).

Given the scale of the most recent MP figures, the old ones are pretty much obsolete in terms of the future of the line, so you might as well wait.

Re: Considering Masterpiece Megatron: Thoughts?

I got him just after he was released and my only issue is the yellowing feet which is easy enough to fix when I get the time. The addition of the 3rd party accessory pack made him one of my all time favorites!

Re: Considering Masterpiece Megatron: Thoughts?

I like mine, no issues with him and no cosmic rust yet. But at this point I would have to say wait, and get the new one. Since they most likely are working on one.
