I am pretty sure you would be unhappy if you came in to pick up an item and when you did you were told that item was already picked up by you!

I understand and appreciate that. However, it goes back to what I was saying before, there was nothing on the website nor the emails about the status of the product that said a printout invoice is now required.
I just checked the website and still there is no mention of a printout invoice or any changes to the in store policy:
Can I pick up my order in-store if I order online?
In Store pick up is only available on all our store items. You can place preorders for items and then chose store pick up as your method of shipping. There is a $3 pick up fee for each time something is picked up. You can pick up 10 items 10 times and you will be billed the $3 each time or you can pick up 10 items one time and you will be billed the $3 only the one time. Please use our email to request a pick-up if you wish to split up an order.
Maybe it is there, or on some other part of the site, but I can't find it.
Personally, I would of preferred to know what I needed to bring ahead of time rather than be told (30mins before closing or not) right there the changes to the policy and either scramble to get an invoice printout or come back another day. That is poor customer relations to assume people would know or not care and have to deal with it.
Again, I may be in the minority that doesn't have a printer or smart phone or the forethought to have a printout of the invoice ready. But, you need to have that information out there on the site and the email system for guys like me to know what to do rather then be scrambling to figure out what to do. You have a website and newsletter you could use for address important store policies.
So I can understand, you talk about pick up fraud and quoted my initial response, but how about my other one: "But if you know what the product is and the order number as well as picture ID confirming you to the name and the name to the order, isn't that enough proof?" Could you give an example of pick up fraud and how matching John the person to John on the Id card to John on the internal system, failed the system?
Sorry for being so wordy and hijacking the thread you guys.
